Sasural Simar Ka fame Dipika Kakar got married to her long-time beau Shoaib Ibrahim in February this year. The lady converted to Islam and her decision drew criticism. Lately, she celebrated her first Eid and haters started slamming her for celebrating a Muslim festival despite being a Hindu. Dipika has finally broken her silence on the issue and lashed out asking why she owes an explanation for her decision.
In in an interview to a leading daily, she said that just because she is an actor, people don’t have right to slam her. Hindustan times quoted her saying, “Why do I owe an explanation to you for my personal decision? Why do you expect that I will live my life on your terms and conditions? How are you even related to me?”
She went on to ask where these people were when she was going through the bad phase of her life. Shoaib supported his wife and again made it clear that it was Dipika’s personal choice to convert to Islam. He said, “We are a very liberal family and religion has never played havoc in our lives. Dipika is free to follow whatever religion she wants to — Hindu or Muslim.”
He further said that this negativity never affects him or his family. On a related note, Dipika and Shoaib met on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka and fell in love. Later, the actor proposed to lady on Nach Baliye.
