Sangeetha Balan
Tamil TV actress Sangeetha Balan who shot to fame with popular show Vani Rani was arrested by Chennai Police for allegedly running a prostitution racket at a resort in the city.
The Times of India report states that the police got a tip-off regarding the racket undergoing in the resort. After the raid, it was found that the TV actress was behind the flesh trade. Sangeetha's aide Satish was also arrested along with her. Sangeetha and Santosh used to lure young girls on the pretext of giving them well-paid jobs and a chance to act in films and TV shows.
Many women from North India have been rescued by the police and sent to the rehabilitation centre. The duo has been sent to jail after being produced in Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore.
Sangeetha made her acting debut with 1996 Tamil film Karuppu Roja and then went on to work in movies such as Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum. She is currently playing the role of Sundari Kaaliappan in Vani Rani. Besides, Sangeetha was also seen in shows like Chellamay Aval, Sabitha alias Sabapathi and Valli.
