Actor Vijay’s Mersal was one of the most awaited films of the year and now as the movie has released, it is doing a terrific business at the box office. Ever since, the film hit the screens, it was embroiled in a controversy over some scenes and dialogues but seems that Vijay’s fans are unfazed by it. The film has broken the records of Vijay’s previous films in just six days. The movie has also minted more than the lifetime collection of the actor’s blockbuster Theri, which had collected Rs 143.6 crore.
If reports are to be believed, Mersal has collected Rs 155 crore in six days. In Tamil Nadu, Vijay starrer earned Rs 84 crore with distributors' share of Rs 48.5 surpassing the record of Rajinikanth's Kabali. The latter minted Rs 75.2 crore and its distributor share was Rs 45.3 crore.
Interestingly, not only in India but the film is performing well at the international box office as well.
Directed by Atlee Kumar, the film features the actor in triple role. Mersal also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in pivotal roles. Both Atlee and Vijay have collaborated for the second time in Mersal. They have earlier worked together in Theri.
