Actor Vijay’s latest release, Mersal is doing wonderful business at the box office. The film is being called as one of the biggest blockbusters of the actor’s career. The worldwide collection of Mersal has reportedly crossed Rs 200 crore mark. It has become the second Tamil film to earn this huge amount after Rajinikanth starrer Enthiran. Now, a distributor Abirami Ramanathan has claimed that the box office numbers are fake as there is no proof to authenticate it.
In an interview to a leading Tamil movie portal, he stated that inflating numbers is a technique in order to create hype among people. He went on to say that if you make people believe that the film has earned this huge amount, they will be curious to watch it adding that there is no proof of authenticity of the box office collections of Mersal.
Abirami further said that it’s not possible for a producer to know the earnings of the film before its theatrical run. His comments irked Vijay’s fans, who slammed him on social media.
On a related note, Vijay plays triple role in the film. Mersal also features Nithya Menon, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Kajal Aggarwal in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Atlee.
