Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 has weaved its magic at the box office around the world. The sci-fi movie directed by Shankar has set the cash registers ringing with the worldwide collection of Rs 620 crore. Within 11 days of hitting the screens, 2.0 has crossed the benchmark of Rs 600 crore.

With such a whopping collection, 2.0 has shattered several records held by other movies. It has not only broken lifetime worldwide collection of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat but also became third Indian movie after Padmaavat and Sanju to cross 5 million dollars at the US box office. On a related note, Padmaavat's total box office collection worldwide was Rs. 560 crore.

Makers of 2.0 are now waiting for its release in China. Theatres in the neighbouring country have emerged to be a promising market for Indian films. A statement from the makers read: ''Lyca Productions Pvt. Ltd is proud to associate with HY Media, one of China’s most prominent production and distribution companies, for the Chinese release of 2.0, the magnum opus of director Shankar, starring pan-Asian Superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood megastar Akshay Kumar.”

2.0 was panned by critics for its storyline but applauded for VFX. India TV critic writes, “2.0 is basically a crowd-pleasing movie with a message on ecological conservation. Rajinikanth's stardom, director Shankar, VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan, sound specialist Resul Pookutty and cinematographer Nirav Shah should be given credit for this experience. Though 3D is not equivalent to that of Hollywood, the effort is applaudable. Watching in 3D will give you best experience.”
