TV actress Kanchi Singh who was playing the role of Naira’s cousin Gayatri aka Gayu in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai calls it quit to the show. The actress was disappointed with her role in the serial. The actress felt that were very little for her to do in the show, and her role has been completely sidelined. The serial’s focus has been shifted to Kartik and Naira as they are quite popular among fans. Thus, her role has been completely sidelined.
The actress confirmed the news to Times of India, saying, “Yes, I have quit the show. I didn't see any future for my character. I totally understand that shifting focus from a popular couple - Kartik and Naira - to any other character could be detrimental to the show, but my character was completely sidelined in the bargain. I wish the Yeh Rishta... team all the best. I'll always be indebted to producer Rajan Shahi, who launched me in the industry. I would like to play meaningful characters now and have decided to take up only lead roles.”
Currently, Kanchi Singh is serving a notice period of three months and it will end in September. The actress is dating Rohan Mehra who played Naksh in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Meanwhile, in YRKKH, Nidhi Uttam who plays Naitik’s sister Nandini on the show will be returning soon. There will be a Raksha Bandhan sequence between Naitik and Nandini.
