Shahid Kapoor is busy promoting his upcoming film Batti Gul Meter Chalu currently. He’s travelling cities to talk about his film which is based on the corruption in electricity board in India. A couple of weeks ago, he welcomed his second child with wife Mira Rajput. However, citing work commitments, the actor had to step out of the house to do what’s needed; film promotions. During an interview with Rajeev Masand, he talked about nepotism and how it reduces the opportunities for those who don’t have a godfather in film industry.
He even credited his wife Mira Rajput for keeping him grounded, as he believes that actors mostly live in bubble. Shahid also said that we are living in one of the most nepotistic times we’ve ever been in and he blamed social media for that.
Shahid Kapoor shares THROWBACK picture with wife Mira Rajput and we can’t stop gushing over them
Talking about nepotism in industry, Shahid Kapoor said, “We are also in one of the most nepotistic times, we've ever been in. Everybody who has anything to do with an actor or a producer or a director kinda tries to become an actor. And there is a lot less access to people who are not within the fraternity. And honestly, social media hasn't really helped that because the people who tend to get noticed are the people who happen to be somebody of a celebrity. Therefore, you are in the limelight. So, it's a big contradiction.”
On the work front, Shahid Kapoor will also do the Hindi remake of hit Telugu film Arjun Reddy. The actor will be stepping into the shoes of Vijay Deverakonda for the emotional drama.
