Amid #MeToo stories, this hair-raising dance performance on increasing rapes, sexual assault will hit you hard! (Video)

#MeToo movement has arrived the Indian boundaries. With each Me Too story shared by a woman on the internet, with nail-biting details, our heart sinks. To be precise, every woman has faced sexual abuse or molestation at least once in her life, but she’s so scared to share her story with the world. But now is the time when she will speak, and they will listen. It’s no time for victim shaming, cause it’s the perpetrators who’re going to be on the receiving end of shaming. Women have been deprived of respect and understanding for so long and now is the time to include them in the society, not merely as ‘weaker sex’.

Amid the #MeToo stories with chilling details, that are floating on the internet, a group on Dance Plus gave a hair-raising performance on the similar premise. They weren’t dancing on a Bollywood dance number, but on RJ Naved’s famous radio rant on increasing rapes and sexual assault. The radio session went viral on the internet a couple of years ago. In the audio, RJ Naved can be heard asking a gynaecologist to abort his female child because ‘she will be raped someday’.

Through their actions, the dance group Feel Crew is narrating a story of a man who is asking a lady doctor to abort his girl child to prevent her getting raped in the future.

In no time, the hashtag #BaatBadhao was trending on the Twitter with many people coming out and urging people not to blame a woman’s dress for rapes. When eight months old baby girl can get raped, how can we even blame a woman’s dressing for the ill mindset of the perpetrators.

Times are changing and it’s better for our society to change too. Women are not meat for men to feed on. They are not a means of satiating sexual desires. They are as humans as men are. They feel, they also hurt, they love and they also breathe like any other human does.
