Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan, who’s currently hosting popular reality show Big Boss Tamil, started the Saturday episode with a warning to showrunners. He threatened to quit the show as the host if they include any socially irresponsible task in the future. The show received a lot of backlash after the housemates were given a task to dress up and act like mentally-challenged people in the recent episode. Viewers criticised the task to be irresponsible and violating the people with mental problems.
Even Kamal Haasan didn’t accept the task. The 62-year-old actor clarified that he was not a part of the planning of the activity inside the Big Boss house during the weekdays. Though, the actor still finds himself somewhere responsible for the atrocious blunder and he thinks that he owe an apology to the viewers.
“The task that made fun of mentally challenged people was not in a good taste. And I’m actually angry about it. We all have social responsibilities,” he said.
He also furthered his opinion that issues related to mental health are not something to be taken mockingly.
“You may ask me, why have you not acted a mentally disturbed person in your films? That type of character in my films will not be used for comic relief. He will be the protagonist,” Kamal Haasan added.

We really appreciate the stand taken by the man of such stature. It takes a lot of courage to admit his part of being incorrect. Truly said it is, he is the Ulaganayagan. Kamal Haasan has been in the film industry for more than 50 years and after such a success, he chose to make a debut on small screens in June. The show has been a controversy’s child for many reasons ranging from legal issues to threats from members of fringe groups in Tamil Nadu. But currently, the show is most talked-about TV show with more than 3.6 crore viewers turnout.
