Controversies are part and parcel of the entertainment industry, in fact, every industry. Year 2018 has been an eventful one right from the beginning. In January, Deepika Padukone’s film was struggling for a glitch-free release among Karni Sena protests and threats. Later in October, #MeToo movement engulfed the industry in a rather positive way. Many big names were brought down after sexual harassment allegations. As the year 2018 is reaching it’s tombstone, let’s look back a little at the controversies that kept us glued to the news this year.

Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar sexual harassment controversy

Tanushree Dutta rattled some feathers in the entertainment industry when she opened up about her alleged sexual harassment on the sets of Horn OK Please by Nana Patekar. She even named Ganesh Acharya for being privy to it and yet doing nothing about it. The case is still going on. The actress definitely did open many doors for the women who have been oppressed and wrong at the hands of men in different industries.

#MeToo Movement

It’s not a controversy, but instead a healthy movement, however the social media posts did make some really shocking revelations. From Sajid Khan to Vikas Bahl, many names came out in the movement, as a repercussion of which, they were asked to step down from the respective projects they were doing.

Kapil Sharma hurled abuses at journalist

It was a dark phase for Kapil Sharma, who is now happy in his zone. The comedian hurled abuses at a renowned journalist over some personal matter. The call recording of the conversation between them went viral. This left Twitter divided with some taking sides with the comedian while others bashing him. Soon after this, Kapil Sharma checked himself into a rehab. Now he’s happily married to his girlfriend Ginni Chatrath.

Sonu Sood-Kangana Ranaut controversy

It came as a shock to everyone when Sonu Sood stepped out of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi after shooting for major segments of the film. Later, Kangana lashed out at the actor accusing him of male chauvinism. This entire debate stretched out for about a week, before both the parties decided to move on in their respective directions.

Papon sparked debate after kissing a child contestant

Popular singer Papon was slammed left, right and center by the members of Bollywood as well, after he kissed a minor contestant during a Facebook live. The singer was judge on the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and during one of the promotional Facebook live sessions, he kissed an 11-year-old girl which left the viewers enraged.
