London: The Mission Impossible star stunned staff at the Veer Dhara restaurant in St Peter's Street when he arrived with his entourage.
But after ordering more than £220 (Rs 19, 310) of food, the star admitted he only had dollars after being told the restaurant could not accept his American Express card. One of his party quickly stepped in and paid in £50 notes, leaving staff an £80 (Rs 7,000) tip. Cruise asked for chicken tikka masala to be “extra spicy”.
Restaurant manager Darshit Hora said “His bodyguards called and said someone special was coming but did not say who it was. When he came in it was a big shock but we just wanted to be professional. They said he wanted a nice, quiet meal with his family, so we sat them near the kitchen.”
Hora added, “ At the end of the meal he wanted to pay, but we could not accept American Express. He said his whole group only had dollars, then a lady came forward and paid in £50 notes.
