Los Angeles, Sept 14: Los Angeles police have reopened several blocks of Hollywood that were closed after reports of a suspicious package near the site of the annual Academy Awards.
Officer Gregory Baek says police went to the area near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of a suspicious box in the back of a pickup. The truck was parked outside the Kodak Theatre.
Two blocks were shut down for more than an hour while a bomb squad investigated. However, no evacuations were ordered.
Baek says authorities finally determined that the suspicious object was a tool box.
The area is home to several landmark theaters, including Grauman's Chinese, and draws thousands of tourists daily. AP
