London: A collection of paintings, photographs and a sculpture and a tapestry inspired by supermodel Kate Moss are to be auctioned Sep 25, said art dealer Christie's.

Moss appeared in a silver suit, posing with the art works in front of photographers, reported Xinhua Wednesday.

"She was supportive and thrilled to see the works coming together and up for sale," said Philippe Garner, director of photographs from Christie's, who noted that this is the first time they have an auction devoted to a modern icon.

A total of 58 lots are to be sold, which were owned by German collector Gert Elfering.

"Kate is the ultimate modern muse and we will be seeing her images in major museums and private collections for years to come," Elfering said.

"She has altered perceptions for women across the globe, encouraging them towards greater individuality and expressive freedom," he said.

According to Elfering, Moss has one of the most inspirational faces of the time, "depicted by countless artists".

"Gert recognised the appetite of today's collectors for photographs that confound traditional norms," said Garner.

"So he has worked with the artists involved to create unique or very limited edition paintings in a range of scales that, in certain cases, reach dramatic mural proportions."

Eight photos on display for press preview showed the evolvement of Moss over the years -- prominent among them a black-and-white photo taken by Mario Sorrenti in 1993. In the photo, the half-naked model stared at the camera with innocence. The photo was estimated to fetch 8,000 to 12,000 pounds ($12,500-$18,750).

Another shot of Moss encased in bronze glitter by Allen Jones, named Body Armour, was expected to fetch 20,000 to 30,000 pounds. Jones has also got a painting and a sculpture up for sale.

One of the most expensive images is of Moss in the water, which is valued at 100,000 to 150,000 pounds.
