London: Sony Pictures Entertainment has become the victim of a large-scale cyber attack.
According to a source, the motion picture giant's computer systems were shut down by a cyber intrusion Monday, reports variety.com.
A picture of a skeleton with message from the hackers saying “Hacked by #GOP” threatened to release the company's "top secrets".
A spokesperson for the corporation said of the incident: "Sony Pictures Entertainment experienced a system disruption, which we are working diligently to resolve”.
Employees at the Culver City-based studio, unable to log onto their computers, resorted to working with pen, paper and landline telephones. The other branches of Sony were unaffected by the cyberattack.
