New Delhi: Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo Di Caprio finally overcame the oscar jinx and finally took home his first academy award in his sixth nomination.

"Spotlight," a film about the Boston Globe's investigation into priest abuse, won for best picture, taking home its second award of the night

The 88th Academy awards also known as the Oscars is currently underway at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Priyanka Chopra, who is riding high on the international fame garnered through her American TV show "Quantico", added the "desi" touch to the ceremony.

Draped in hues of white, the Bollywood actress presented the Oscar in the Best Film Editing category to "Mad Max: Fury Road" along with Hollywood star Liev Schreiber.

She is said to be the second Indian presenter at the foreign annual film ceremony, with Persis Khambatta being the first.

This award show is also being boycotted by some Hollywood figures who are protesting about the lack of ethnic diversity among this year's nominees as all 20 nominees in the best acting or supporting acting categories are white.
