New York: Singer Paul McCartney has purchased a $15.5 million penthouse here at the Fifth Avenue.
The 72-year-old bought the property, which is a "1960's time capsule", at 1045 Fifth Avenue with his wife Nancy Shevell, who he wed in 2011, reports pagesix.com.
The luxurious apartment is said to be a "glamorous 1960's time capsule with a dash of Hollywood".
The purchasers were made to register their names as the property is for co-op buyers only. The couple listed themselves as Paul and Nancy McCartney.
The deluxe complex, which has glamorous views across Central Park, has never been put on the property market before.
It originally belonged to property developer Manny Duell, who used to buy rented buildings and offer them to those who wanted to live with unrelated residents.
While Manny died in 1977, his wife continued to live in the residence until her death in 2014.
The $15.5 million price tag is far from McCartney's family home in Liverpool, which he sold at the beginning of 2015 for 150,000 pounds.
