New Delhi: Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom had to face a tough time after landing in India. The actor who was supposed to be a state guest of the Uttar Pradesh government went into trouble after his e-visa got rejected.

Bloom had landed here on Saturday night at 1:30pm and was deported back to the UK at around 4 am after the rejection of his e-visa by the Indian authorities.

After he was deported back, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj came to his rescue. She took notice of the matter and the actor returned back to New Delhi later that day after having issued a new visa.

Vikas Swarup, official spokesperson and joint secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, said, “When one applies for an electronic visa, one receives a mail saying whether the visa has been issued or rejected. I think he must have landed without the confirmation email or forgotten to check whether the visa has been granted or not. It takes a minimum of 72 hours and a maximum of four days for the visa to be processed, at the end of which, your visa is accepted or rejected.”

Bloom is the chief attraction of Indian filmmaker Sheetal Talvar's Romans and is expected to meet some Bollywood biggies during his stay in the country.
