New Delhi, Oct 28: Wearing a gown by an Indian designer and her hair tied in a tricolour-inspired bun, Lady Gaga, famous for her bizzare style statement, toned it down to go ‘desi' for her very first appearance in the country.

The 25-year-old American pop star, who is on her maiden visit to India, addressed a press conference today wearing a multi-coloured one-shoulder floor length gown by Indian designer Naeem Khan. Her hairdo, in the colours of silver, golden and green, resembled the Indian tricolor.

“I am wearing an Indian designer based out of New York, called Naeem Khan,” Gaga said, adding that her outfit at her concert at the Formula One after-party on Sunday will also have an Indian influence.

The Grammy-winning singer is as famous for her music as her fashion sense. She has made heads turn everytime she made a public appearance with her outrageous outfits, including a dress made of meat at the MTV VMAs last year.

Her first Indian rendezvous was much simpler in comparison and Gaga says that at heart she is just like any other girl and wears regular outfits at home.

“All I want to wear is my leather jacket from New York with a pair of fishnet tights, so sometimes I really have to fight with the Haus of Gaga (her creative team) to let me wear what I want to. At home I wear regular stuff, I am like any other girl. But I am schizophrenic and can be a hundred women at the same time,” said Gaga.
