Los Angeles: Actress Kate Winslet says life is an uphill task for single mothers as the society is judgemental about them.
Winslet has two children - Mia, 12, and Joe, 9, from her previous marriages to Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes respectively.
The actress, who is now married to Ned Rocknroll, is expecting their first child and says life has taken her down many times, reports contactmusic.com.
"Single mums do come in for a hard time. Society is incredibly judgmental. I know this. My life has taken me down several different paths I never expected it to take me down. Not in a million years. And I know the true meaning of getting by, by the skin of my teeth. I do," Time Out magazine quoted Winslet as saying.
However, the actress, who is expecting her first child with Rocknroll, says one has to move on in life.
"It doesn't matter whether you've got money, whether you're famous or not. You have to carry on. And you can, because you have to," she said.
