New Delhi: Jennifer Lawrence was amongst those few unfortunate celebrities whose nude pictures were surfacing the web on Monday. The reason behind this terrible leak has been deemed to be a possible security breach in Apple's iCloud storage devices.
According to the buzz, the hacker had gained access to the Apple servers that lead him to garner the photos from the iCloud accounts of the respective celebrities.
Further, the explicit photos were first shared on 4Chan, a website that allows users to share random pics anonymously; followed by the sharing of pictures on popular websites like Imgur and Reddit. Reports have added that the hacker was offered a million dollars by TMZ (one of the leading entertainment websites) but the person agreed to leak the pictures on web in lieu of bitcoins.
He again claimed that the more bitcoins he would get, the more amount of pictures he would leak. Also, the hacker even allegedly even demanded some whooping amount of bitcoins to leak a highly explicit video of actress Jennifer Lawrence.
Though the Academy Award winning actress didn't confirm that whether the leaked pictures belong to her or not, her spokesperson said, “This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence."
Celebs who have unfortunately been caught up in this issue include Mary E Winstead, Victoria Justice, Hilary Duff, Kim Kardashian, Kirsnt Dunst, Kelly Brook amongst others. While Mary confirmed that her photos were real, Victoria claimed that they were fake and have got no relation to herself.
“To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves," said Mary E Winstead.
Apple, however, has not issued any statement and is yet to clear its stance.
