Los Angeles, Sept 12: Dozens of firefighters rushed to the Hollywood Hills house owned by the Oscar winner after it mysteriously burst into flames.
While Nicholson hasn't lived in the home since 1975, he has been renting it out, most recently to his Two Jakes co-star, William Tynan, who was in the home when it caught on fire, source reports.
Tynan was asleep when he started to smell smoke, but was able to escape his home before it was engulfed in flames.
While authorities are still investigating what sparked the blaze, firefighters are speculating that it may have been caused by chemicals in the garage, according to KABC.
Two firemen - out of the 85 sent to tackle the blaze - were injured and taken to hospital.
The fireman worked at it for 90 minutes before it was fully extinguished, and one of the fire fighters told reporter, "It was tricky, just because of where it was, on a hillside, dark, windy roads, a lot of brush,"
The house, which jack purchased back in 1973 is in an area which was once named “Bad Boys Drive”, as other male actors including Marlon Brando owned houses in the area.
