Miami, July 11: Mexican actress Salma Hayek said Tuesday that she had rejected "many" roles to be with her family and enjoy a more home-oriented life.

"I've said no to many things and I don't regret it," the actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for her starring role in "Frida" (2003) and who Friday returns to the big screen in "Grown Ups 2", told Efe.

Hayek, who is also a film producer, said that she had felt forced to work on big productions during the summer, when her 5-year-old daughter, Valentina Paloma, is not going to school.

"If you notice, I only work in the summers," she said.

The Mexican star said she felt greatly supported in her career by her husband, French businessman François-Henri Pinault, and also by her daughter.

"I'm very lucky because my daughter and my husband support me a lot in my work. So, thanks to that, I can do many things," Hayek said.

Hayek began enjoying considerable success in her career and became one of Hollywood's best-known and most popular Hispanic actresses after "Desperado" (1995), where she landed a starring role alongside Spanish actor Antonio Banderas.

She went on to work with Banderas on projects such as "Spy Kids" (2001), "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" (2003) and "Frida" (2002).

One of her most recent films with Banderas was "Puss in Boots", in 2011, where the pair provided the voices of the main characters in the animated production.
