Los Angeles: Paolo Sorrentino's Italian film "The Great Beauty" pipped nominations from Iran, France, Denmark and Japan to win the best foreign film honour at the 71st Golden Globe Awards held here Sunday.
"The Great Beauty", which had premiered at the2013 Cannes International Film Festival, is about an ageing socialite and writer, who reflects upon his life after turning 65.
Other nominees in the category were "Blue Is the Warmest Color" (France), "The Hunt" (Denmark); "The Past" (Iran) and "The Wind Rises" (Japan).
