Los Angeles: Hollywood star George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's Venice wedding was a costly affair with approximately $1.6 million spent on the ceremony, sources say.
Their three-day wedding weekend, including their intimate Sep 27 ceremony at the Aman Canal Grande resort, cost about $1.6 million, reports people.com.
Clooney's marriage to the human rights lawyer was witnessed by stars like Rande Gerber and wife Cindy Crawford, Matt Damon and wife Luciana, John Krasinski and wife Emily Blunt, Bono and Ellen Barkin.
Meanwhile, a source has told a leading magazine that the price tag for the wedding came in at $1.6 million. Previous reports speculated that the ceremony cost anywhere from $5m to $13m.
As a founder of Casamigos Tequila, Clooney and business partner and wedding guest Rande Gerber flew 100 cases of the brand's award-winning Blanco, Reposado and Anejo tequila from California to Italy for the wedding festivities.
According to sources, speculative reports placing the wedding cost anywhere from USD 5 million to upwards of USD 13 million are incorrect.
Additional reports claiming Alamuddin's family footed the bill for the wedding weekend, which included several fetes at the matrimonial home base, the Belmond Hotel Cipriani ? are also inaccurate, sources said.
The couple has been spotted at Victoria International Airport on the island of Mahé in Seychelles.
