London: Cinderella is the latest Disney movie to be given a live action remake. It will be directed by Kenneth Branagh.
Lily James, who is best known for her role as Lady Rose MacClare in British period drama “Downton Abbey”, will take on the title character in the film, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
The film also features Richard Madden, Cate Blanchett and Helen Bonham Carter as Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine and the Fairy Godmother respectively. Hayley Atwell, Holliday Graigner, Stellan Skarsgård, Nonso Anozie and Derek Jacobi are also on board for the project.
The story follows the fortunes of young Ella whose merchant father remarries following the tragic death of her mother. Keen to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother Lady Tremaine and her daughters Anastasia and Drisella into the family home.
But when Ella's father suddenly and unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family and then she meets a stranger in the woods.
