Sarajevo, Feb 15: Angelina Jolie broke into tears as she stepped up on stage in front of some 5,000 frantic Bosnians Tuesday to present her directorial debut "In the land of Blood and Honey."
“I know this will bring back many painful memories, and I know this will be difficult to watch, but I hope when you do, it does not just remind you of what you've suffered, but also reminds you on all that you survived,” Jolie said to the excited crowd as the film was screened at Zetra Sports hHll in Sarajevo.
When Jolie first came on stage, she greeted the crowd in Bosnian, earning more cheers.
Later, she added: “I am so happy to be here tonight, I love Bosnia, I love all of you, and I hope you will be pleased with the film.”
“In the Land of Blood and Honey” is set and was shot in Bosnia. It's the fictional tale of a romance between a Bosnian Serb man and a Bosnian Muslim woman that shines a spotlight on the ethnic anger still left over from the country's brutal conflict.
Jolie, who arrived in Sarajevo with partner Brad Pitt to attend the screening, earned a standing ovation as the film began.
