Popular American country singer Jason Aldean, who was performing near the end of the Route 91 Harvest Festival when a gunman opened fire turning concert into carnage, described it as beyond horrific. Aldean expressed grief on social media.
His post entitled "Pray for Las Vegas" came just before police said 20-plus people were killed and 100-plus injured by a local gunman. "Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still don't know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that me and my crew are safe," Aldean said. He continued: "My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night. #heartbroken #stopthehate."
The death toll later rose to more than 50, with over 200 injured. Police also said the gunman was dead, with officials searching for a female companion of his.
Aldean is one of the celebrated singers and has won many awards for his work.
