English-Irish Pop band 'One Direction' is celebrating its eighth anniversary. In a series of tweets using the hashtag #8yearsofOneDirection, the band's official Twitter account tweeted lyrics of their hit tracks. Band members Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan also took to Twitter to thank their fans.
However, Band member Harry Styles and former member Zayn Malik did not post about the anniversary. In 2015, the Pillow Talk singer left his former band One Direction. Announcing his departure, he wrote on his Facebook, “After five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.
The London-based band was formed in July 2010 after finishing third in the seventh series of the British televised singing competition The X Factor. The band has since dropped five successful albums.
