New Delhi: It is a rare sight that any one tries an unconventional trick at Cannes, one of the most stylish events on the fashion calendar. But, Hollywood actress Julia Roberts known for her brave choices does what she likes, without fretting about norms or fashion police. The 48 year old ascended the red carpet of the 69th prestigious film festival bare foot on Thursday starting a media storm.
Julia, by walking barefoot, defied the strict rules of Cannes which says that women are supposed to walk on the red carpet only in high heels. This rule drew a lot of ire from actresses across the globe, but it was only Julia who stomped it with a smile on her face.

A grinning Julia posed for the shutterbugs and the camera persons had a field day seeing her blatant disregard for the strict rules set by the festival. A French magazine L'Express applauded Roberts' gambit and called it a "veritable act of militant feminism."
