Avengers: Infinity War is the first film of two-part epic battle between mad titan Thanos and all the superheroes of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Infinity War is the first crossover film produced by Marvel and is the 19th installment in the superhero series. The latest box-office collection for Avengers: Infinity War is out and, the Marvel film has raked $630 million in its first weekend, the highest global opening of all time, according to industry estimates.
Marvel’s third Avengers film recorded the highest occupancy rate on Day 1 across the nation, even more than Baahubali – The Conclusion. Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh pointed out that the success of Marvel’s latest film is important as it was released only in 2000 screens, unlike most Bollywood mega films released in twice as many screens.
"The latest Marvel juggernaut... opened with $630M worldwide, making it the largest global weekend tally in the history of film, and this was done without China," which has a later opening, industry tracker Exhibitor Relations said.
That topped 'The Fate of the Furious', the eighth installment of the high-octane action series starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Michelle Rodriguez that opened with more than $530 million globally in 2017.
Avengers: Infinity war chronicles the battle between MCU’s biggest villain Thanos and all the superheroes over survival of Earth. The film includes all the heroes Marvel has shown since 2008, from Guardians of the Galaxy to Black Panther and Thor series.
The Hollywood film has sold over one million tickets on Indian online ticketing platform BookMyShow before its release on April 27, makingjust second to "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" in all time advance sales bookings.
