Juhi Chawla, since her debut in 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak', has managed to keep the flag of 'girl-next-door' flying. And so very high. Juhi won the title of Miss India Universe in 1984, and ventured into films thereafter. Her dimpled smile, impeccable comic timing and her screen presence gave her the stature of one of the most sought-after actresses of the 90s.
On the occasion of her 52nd birthday, we take a trip down the memory lane and revisit Juhi Chawla's best roles.
1. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak
The1988 film is counted amongst one of the most romantic sagas of Bollywood. A young Aamir Khan romances a chubby Juhi Chawla in this modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The film made the actress win the Filmfare Award for the Best Debutant (Female).
2. Darr:
Juhi received accolades for her portrayal of the simple girl. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Shah Rukh Khan and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. The movie also set the trend of off-shoulder dresses and curly/wavy hair.
3. Arjun Pandit:
Juhi Chawla outshone everyone else in this 1999 blockbuster. Her character had grey shades, and Juhi left a mark on both the critics and viewers.
4. My Brother Nikhil:
Juhi delivered an excellent performance in this off-beat film which came in the year 2005. As the elder sister, her effortless blend of conflicting emotions left everyone awestruck.
5. Gulaab Gang
Juhi Chawla's portrayal of a shrewd official left the audience in shock and awe.
