Yash Chopra, the backbone of Yash Raj Films, has made stars out of many Bollywood celebrities. From Shah Rukh Khan to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, celebs can’t stop praising the legendary filmmaker for his excellent filming skills and ability to focus on minute details. He was not just a terrific filmmaker but a gem of a person as well. This Throwback Thursday, here’s a road down to the memory lane when Yash Chopra gave a new life to Saif Ali Khan’s filmy career.

It was about six years ago when Saif Ali Khan had stated in his interview with DNA, that only Yashji was brave enough to have cast him in a film when nobody else was ready to do so. "His family is the only family in the industry that I feel I belong to outside of my own. I owe my career to him. He salvaged my career as he was the only one brave enough to sign me on at a time when no one was ready to cast me. And Parampara (1993) proved to be a turning point in my life. It was like he saved me from going extinct! It was his constant faith in me as an actor that saw me reach here today," Saif had said.

Not just actors and films, but Yash Chopra was popular to pamper everyone around from his employees, cooks and drivers. Recalling one such incident Saif had mentioned, "He (Yash Chopra) pampered his cook, who in turn pampered us tremendously. After shoots, we would play cards, bond over food and it was such a treat especially on outdoor schedules abroad. Pampered would be an understatement when it came to how he treated us all. He was attentive to the minutest detail and our smallest need. For me, he was like a friend, I could talk to him about anything, but always knew that I would get the right advice if I ask for it."

Yash Chopra has always been someone who believed in his actors when they himself had self-doubt. Do you know he was the one who had insisted that Shah Rukh Khan play a lover boy, which he felt was essential for the actor's career? Well on his 86th birth anniversary today, YRF and Aamir Khan are all set to honor him by releasing the trailer of Bollywood’s biggest film Thugs of Hindostan.
