At a time when the Pad Man challenge has taken the internet by storm, a Twitter user trolled the film’s producer Twinkle Khanna. The user pointed out that the challenge was nothing but "hypocrisy at its best form" because Twinkle started this "awareness only before (her) own produced movie”. Celebs such as Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Aamir Khan and other are posing with a sanitary napkin and the trend is going viral just like the way they posed with a lipstick during Lipstick Under My Brukha release.
When Mrs Funnybones took on the Pad Man challenge aiming to normalise conversations around menstruation, the Twitter user was quick in trolling the actress.
“This is an epic example of how celebrities can do anything to promote their Film. Where were you ma’am? Why this so-called awareness only before your own produced movie? Hypocrisy at its best form”, he tweeted.
On the other hand, Twinkle Khanna had the best reply. ““In 2015 I started writing about menstruation in my columns, 2016 I wrote about @murugaofficial in my book and 2018 I am producing Pad Man -just to bring the timeline into perspective for people who look for the negative in every initiative! #PadManTalks” tweeted Khann to Chatterjee, in response, thereafter”, the actress-author tweeted.
The Pad Man challenge was initiated by Arunachalam Murugunantham, the subject of PadMan, which is headlined by Akshay Kumar. Mr Murugunantham started a chain tweet tagging Twinkle Khanna (the producer of PadMan), Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor, who in turn tagged three of their colleagues.
Actors Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao are the latest Bollywood celebs to join the PadMan Challenge spearhead by Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor for their upcoming film Padman.
Pad Man is directed by R Balki and produced by Twinkle Khanna under her banner – Mrs Funny Bones Movies. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte. The film is all set to hit theatres next week on Feb 9th.
