Veteran actress Sridevi passed away in Dubai in February this year. Her sudden demise sent a shockwave through the entire industry as well as her fans. Four months later, a corporator Yogiraj Dabhadkar, who is also the chairman of the K west ward committee has asked for a flyover dedicated to the late actress Sridevi.
He said, “A flyover on Mogra nullah near Celebration Club at Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri west, should be named ‘Abhinetri Sridevi Udanpool” in memory of the renowned actress.”
If Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) accepts the demand made by the corporator, the flover on Mogra nullah at Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri will be renamed after the renowned Bollywood actress Sridevi, who passed away this year in Dubai.
“Sridevi, who started her career in Bollywood as a child artiste in the film Julie, acted in several popular movies. Along with Hindi films, she also acted in Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil films. In 2013, Sridevi was felicitated with the Padmashri award by the Centre for her achievements in the field of acting,” Dabhadkar had written.
His letter is put up for discussion in the civic group leaders’ meeting on Monday. The proposal will be sent to the municipal commissioner for his remarks before making the final call on it.
Sridevi passed away in Dubai in February this year due to accidental drowning in her bathtub of her hotel room. She was in the city to attend the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah. She was accompanied by husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor. The Mr India actress was cremated with state honours in Mumbai in the presence of her family members along with thousands of her fans.
