The shooting for Ashwini Iyer Tiwari's upcoming film Panga commenced on Sunday. The director, who is known for films like Bareily Ki Barfi and Nil Battey Sannata, announced the film in August this year and revealed that it will be based on kabaddi. Sharing a photograph of the film's clapboard on Twitter, Tiwari wrote: "In alignment to a dream. 'Panga'. Cinema love, 11.11."
The movie is a family entertainer and going by the theme, the makers also released a video earlier that outlines the different phases family members go through. As the video starts, it reads a statement by the director herself as she reveals that she is ready to take up challenges and follow her passion because her family is rooting for her every day. Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari shared the video with the caption, “My existing reality is a reflection of my dear ones’ belief in me. From the team backed by its families. Presenting #PANGA”
Featuring actors like Kangana Ranaut, Richa Chadha, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi and Jassie Gill, "Panga" revolves around female kabaddi players and the trials they face. In the video as well, collage of some pictures from the actual family albums of Kangana, Jassi, Neena, and Ashwini are portrayed according to the theme of their film that when your family stands behind you, no one in the world can take panga with you.
The first schedule of the film is being Shot in Bhopal.
