Shilpa Shetty, Shamita Shetty and their mother Sunanda Shetty might face legal trouble as a complaint has been lodged against the family by a businessman over non-repayment of loan. The businessman has filed a complaint over a loan of Rs 21 lakh taken by Shilpa Shetty’s late father Surendra Shetty that he was supposed to pay by 2017. The businessman who filed the complaint against their family is a proprietor of an automobile agency, Parhad Amra. As per a Mid-Day report, Shilpa Shetty’s family has denied all the allegations and have stated that they will be present for the hearing on January 29, 2019 at the Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
The Mid-Day report also mentions that Parhad claimed that he shared a friendly relationship with Surendra Shetty. He lent the amount to him in 2015 for some business purpose. “Amra paid the first instalment of Rs 8 lakh on August 20, 2015, from his automobile agency account, then a second one of Rs 5 lakh on September 5, 2015 from his personal account, and the third one of Rs 8 lakh on October 7, 2015 from his automobile agency's account. All payments were made through cheques drawn in the favour of Surendra's firm 'Corgifts'"

Parhad also explained that Surendra Shetty told him that his daughters and wife are also a part of his business and they were aware of this loan. Shilpa Shetty’s father passed away in October 2016. Parhad claims that Shilpa and Shamita denied the loan was ever taken and refused to make any payments when the businessman approached them.
Shilpa Shetty told Mid-Day in a statement, “I have never had any involvement in my late father's business, and have no knowledge at all of the financial dealings of the company. This gentleman is misleading the media. I knew him in the capacity of our family car mechanic that's all."
