Veteran actress Shammi Rabadi, who was fondly known as Shammi Aunty by the Bollywood, passed away on Monday in Mumbai. The actress was 87. On Tuesday, Farida Jalal, Asha Parekh, Boman Irani, Farah Khan among others arrived at her funeral to offer their last respect. Veteran actress Asha Parekh even broke down while recounting the fond memories with her best friend Shammi. Actor Shekhar Suman, who shared the screen space with the veteran actress in Dekh Bhai Dekh, said that her death has left a void in his life.
In a series of tweets, Shekhar Suman paid his respects to his co-star Shammi Aunty. He wrote, “Shammi Aunty passes away and leaves behind a huge void in my life. I don't know what how and where my life would be without her. She is the one who introduced me to Shashi Kapoor who chose me to be the hero of his magnum opus 'Utsav'. I never looked back after that. Goodbye Shammi aunty."
“I remember Shammi aunty playing my mother-in-law in 'Dekh Bhai Dekh'. Oh we had so much fun. 'Tere moonh me keede tere moonh mein dhool'. Love you. Will miss you forever,” wrote Shekhar Suman in another tweet.
On Tuesday, megastar Amitabh Bachchan shared the heartbreaking news of Shammi’s demise on his Twitter account. He shared a number of throwback pictures of the veteran actress as well. Shammi Rabadi has played Amitabh Bachchan’s on-screen mother in a Bollywood film. He wrote, “Rest in peace Shammy Aunty .... My first on-screen mom ! Will miss you and your sense of humour. #shammiaunty #dekhbhaidekh."
Shammi Rabadi appeared in Dekh Bhai Dekh, Shrimaan Shrimati, Filmi Chakkar, Kabhi Yeh Kabhi Woh and Zabaan Sambhalke.
