Shahid Kapoor is riding high on success after his recent film Padmaavat became a massive hit at the box office. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is Shahid’s highest grossing film so far. In the period drama, he has played the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh. He received rave reviews for his performance in Padmaavat. But surprising fact is that, lead actress Deepika Padukone was paid more than Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. She confirmed the reports in a talk show hosted by Neha Dhupia.
Considering that Padmaavat has smoothly entered the 250crore club within three weeks, Shahid Kapoor became one of the few actors Bollywood to deliver such a massive hit. It was safe to assume that the actor will hike his fee post Padmaavat success. Reports say that Shahid is planning on increasing the amount of money he charges per film. No film of Shahid's, before Padmaavat, has managed to earn this kind of money at the box office.
“It's true after Padmaavat, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is a much bigger project than it was before. Distributors are willing to pay a much higher price for a Shahid solo-starrer than they were earlier. Shahid has done many solo starrers before, but nothing compared to what Padmaavat has done at the box office. Batti Gul Meter Chalu is suddenly a much bigger film," a source was quoted as saying to Bollywood Hungama.
"We did not sign him for how saleable he was. We signed him because he's one of our finest star-actors and perfect for the role in our film. The dedication with which he had has prepared for his role has bowled us over. We would love to work with him again”, Prernaa Arora, the producer of Batti Gul Meter Chalu, told the website.
On the work front, Deepika Padukone will be featuring in Vishal Bhardwaj’s yet-to-be-titled film alongside Irrfan Khan. Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor will be seen next in Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
