Shah Rukh Khan opts out of Rakesh Sharma biopic, picks Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 instead
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s name is synonymous to the popular series Don and looks like fans have a reason to do the happy dance as he is back with the thriller film once again. If reports are to be true, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to start Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 and for this, he has opted out of astronaut Rakesh Sharma’s biopic titled Saare Jahan Se Acha. The biopic was the much-awaited project of King Khan and it was Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan who suggested his name for the role. But it appears that the film is not on cards anymore for SRK.
Going by the reports in DNA, SRK was apparently all set to start the shooting of the biopic from next month but now he will start shooting for Don 3 in the second half of the year. Saare Jahan Se Acha has already been delayed much and it was supposed to be produced by SRK himself along with Sidharth Roy Kapur.
Initially, Aamir Khan was approached for the role in the biopic but he chose not to do to so that it can concentrate on the making of Mahabharata. Aamir Khan had informed reporters earlier, "It is a great script. Salute is a wonderful script and I am a big fan of Rakesh (Sharma). It's a wonderful story and I feel sad that I was not able to do it, which is why I called up Shah Rukh and told him it was a wonderful story and he should hear it. I am glad he liked it. All my best wishes for the project."
In fact, SRK had also gone on record to thank Aamir Khan for the role and said, “I thank Aamir [Khan] who was to do the film for calling me and telling me about the role as it would suit me. Whenever I get the time, I will try and spend time with him (Rakesh Sharma).”
