Sanjay Dutt has left his fans emotional on Friday, as he posted a throwback picture with his late father Sunil Dutt on Instagram. On the occasion of his father’s death anniversary, Sanjay shared an old black and white picture in which he can be seen sharing a candid moment with his father. What’s more heartbreaking was the caption. He wrote, “Wish you could see me as a free man. Love you... Miss you.”
The post is emotional as much as it is heartbreaking. Sunil Dutt couldn’t watch his son walk as a free man. Sunil Dutt breathed his last on May 25, 2005, a year before Sanjay Dutt completed his jail term in connection with the 1993 Bombay Bomb Blasts case.
This throwback picture has left many Sanjay Dutt and Sunil Dutt fans emotional.
He was one of the most revered actor in the industry with a number of hit films to his name. In fact, in one of his critically-acclaimed film Mother India, his wife Nargis Dutt played the role of his onscreen mother. He succumbed to a heart attack at his home in Bandra. Sunil Dutt was 75 at the time of his death.
Nargis Dutt and Sunil Dutt had Sanjay Dutt as their only son. His sister Priya Dutt was a politician and was married to Owen Roncon while Namrata Dutt is married to former actor Kumar Gaurav.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt’s biopic helmed by Rajkumar Hirani is all set to release next month. It stars Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Sanjay, who underwent massive transformation to bring his character to life on the celluloid. Manisha Koirala will be playing Sanjay Dutt’s mother Nargis Dutt in the film while Dia Mirza will essay the role of Maanyata Dutt.
