Saif Ali Khan has been ruling the headlines these days for opting not to work with daughter Sara Ali Khan in her next film Love Aaj Kal sequel directed by Imtiaz Ali. While the actor has made his stand clear about not picking the film, he was quizzed about roping in Pooja Bedi’s daughter Alaia F in his next film Jawaani Jaaneman and not Sara Ali Khan since it is based on a father-daughter relationship. Recently, the actor explained that the decision to take the film was Sara’s and not his.
Rumours were doing rounds that Sara Ali Khan was supposed to star in the film but things didn’t work out. To this Saif revealed, " I would have loved to have Sara in Jawaani Jaaneman but that would have meant her choosing this film over everything else she's doing because we wanted this film to be the first film of the person we cast. I feel Sara's career graph and trajectory is in a good place and in a way I'm happy it's separate from mine at the moment. We are very excited to launch Alaia with this film and she is perfect for the part."
On the other hand, the film was also making buzz because it was said that in Jawaani Jaaneman, Saif Ali Khan will be seen playing the role of a naughty father who gets married again at an age when men are not supposed to have sex. However, the actor rubbished the rumours and said, "The reports are ridiculous. I'm excited about producing the film with Jay because it's a team coming together to try and create a family comedy that's a relevant. Jawaani Jaaneman is a modern slice of life movie that people will connect to on so many levels".
Directed by Nitin Kakkar of Filmistan fame, Jawaani Jaaneman is a coming-of-age story of a 40-year-old man and revolves around his relationship with his daughter. Alaia will be seen playing the onscreen daughter of Saif Ali Khan. Talking about the same, Alaia told a leading daily, "There is so much going on for actresses today. Janhvi (Kapoor) and Sara (Ali Khan, Saif's daughter) made their debuts last year. This year it's Ananya (Panday, Chunky's daughter) and me, among others. I think our film choices have been different from each other and that makes it exciting. We aren't trying to fit in." She added that her contemporaries "are bringing our individuality and choices to the table".
