Saif Ali Khan is enjoying the success of his first web series Sacred Games nowadays. Even after surrounded by controversies, the web series has earned appreciation from all. And looks like Saif’s rough and tough role in the series has made him the appropriate choice to play the antagonist in Ajay Devgan’s Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior.
According to the reports in DNA, the Taanaji team believes that Saif will make for an interesting choice to play Udaybhan Rathod, the Rajput officer and fortkeeper appointed by Jai Singh, chief of the Moghul army under Aurangzeb. However, nothing official is confirmed yet.
If everything goes well and Saif signs the film, it will be his fourth collaboration with actor Ajay Devgan. They have previously worked together in Kachche Dhaage (1999), Omkara (2006) and LOC Kargil (2003). Their last film together, Omkara, was an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s most celebrated play Othello, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
On the other hand, it is reported that saif’s representative has denied developments on this front. Ajay Devgan, who will be playing the lead in the movie, unveiled the first poster of Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior saying, “"He fought for his People, his Soil & his King Chhatrapati Shivaji. The unsung warrior of glorious Indian history, Subedar Taanaji Malusare. (sic)."
Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior recounts the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670, which was fought between Tanaji Malusare, a commander in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army, and Udaybhan. The former sacrificed his life to recapture Sinhagad Fort from the Moghuls.
