Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has finally decided to speak up on his cancer battle. The actor shunned the cancer reports earlier when the rumours started doing rounds in the media. His changed hairstyle and pale look sparked speculations about his health on social media. However, neither Neetu Kapoor nor Ranbir revealed anything about cancer until now. Recently, Rishi Kapoor's brother Randhir Kapoor and daughter Riddhima Kapoor spoke in the media about his cancer. They even broke the news that the Karz actor is now cancer-free and will return to India soon. Now, Kapoor himself spoke about his health and how he received treatment in New York for eight months.
While talking to Deccan Chronicle, Rishi Kapoor said, "My eighth month of treatment started on May 1 in the US. But God has been kind! I am in remission, meaning now I am cancer-free."
Despite being cancer-free, there are few portions of the medical treatment still left for Rishi Kapoor to return to his home in India.
He added, "I will have to do a bone-marrow transplant which in all probability should take another two months minimum."
Rishi Kapoor thanked his wife Neetu Kapoor and kids Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni for standing by him like a rock during those testing time. He said, "Being in remission is a big thing and it’s all because of my family and my fans prayers and duas that have worked. I thank them all. Neetu has stood by me like a rock. Otherwise I am too difficult a person to handle as far as food and drink are concerned. My kids Ranbir and Ridhima have really shouldered my problems.”
While Rishi Kapoor has been living in New York, many Bollywood celebrities including Javed Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Sonali Bendre, Anupam Kher, Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, Sonu Nigam and others have visited him, wishing him good health and speedy recovery.
