Rajpal Yadav sentenced to 6 months in prison over cheque bounce case, granted bail

Rajpal Yadav took a loan of Rs 5 crore from a Delhi-based film back in 2010. Due to non-repayment, the firm filed a complaint against actor.

Rajpal Yadav sentenced to 6 months in prison over cheque bounce case, granted bail 

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, who is a known face in the industry for his impeccable comic timing, has been sentenced to six months in prison over cheque bounce case. On Monday, Karkardooma Court sentenced the actor to six months imprisonment for cases related to cheque bounce. However, in a short period of time, he was granted bail.

Rajpal Yadav will have to furnish Rs. 1.60 crore per case penalty to the court. His wife has also be penalised for Rs 10 lakh per case.

Earlier on 14th April, Rajpal Yadav and his wife have been found guilty in the cheque bounce case. Additional Chief Magistrate (East) Amit Arora said while announcing the sentence that they are convicting the accused on the basis of evidences and suspicions. Rajpal Yadav admitted that the bank accounts related to the bounced cheques belonded to him and he has signed them.

An East Delhi-based film Murli Projects Private Limited filed 7 complaints of cheque bounce and other matters. According to the complainant, Rajpal Yadav sought his help for his 2010 film Ata Pata Laapata. After this, they signed an agreement in May 2010 and then a loan of Rs 5 crore was granted to the actor. Yadav has to return Rs 8 crore to the complainant.
