Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan's daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda's father-in-law Rajan Nanda passed away at 76 on Monday. The was held at Taj Palace on Tuesday evening where members of the Bachchan and Kapoor families including Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Babita Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor were seen in attendance. Rajan Nanda, who was the Chairman and Managing Director of Escorts Limited since 1994, was declared brain dead at a hospital in Gurgaon. 

Rajan Nanda was the husband of late superstar Raj Kapoor's daughter Ritu Nanda, and father-in-law of Amitabh's daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda. Rajan Nanda is survived by his wife and their two children - Nikhil and Natasha Nanda.

Amitabh, who flew from Bulgaria to Delhi, where he was currently based for the ongoing shoot of his new film Brahmastra, to be by the side of his daughter Shweta Bachchan’s grieving family in Delhi.

Shweta is married to Nikhil Nanda, Rajan’s son. Amitabh Bachachan thanked his many fans for their concern and messages at the turn of events. Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “.. the messages of condolences are greatly and humbly acknowledged .. they speak of your affection and concern .. they convey the spirit and love of the Ef .. thank you.”

The 102 Not Out actor also penned a post on his blog about it. "The messages of condolences are greatly and humbly acknowledged. They speak of your affection and concern. They convey the spirit and love of the extended family," read his post.

Earlier, after hearing the news, Amitabh had penned a philosophical post on his blog, saying that the sooner one accepts an untoward incident, the happier one is. He wrote, “Yes, the personal tragedy is now in discloser and transmitted… but it had a lead… a lead of distress and anxiety and apprehension from a time of some immediate length… the obvious nested facts were not pressed into the print of this page, but there were hidden hints of them in it. My hidden heart can bleed within… unseen… but it takes not away the pain of its emission,” he wrote.

Rajan Nanda was married to Raj Kapoor’s eldest daughter Ritu Nanda. Rishi Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima paid a tribute of sorts to Nanda through an Instagram post. Sharing a picture of the late businessman, she wrote on the photo and video-sharing website, “You were & will always be a legend! Thank you for all the love always - will miss you so much uncle - until we meet again...”
