Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo broke all the records at the box office when it released in November 2015. The chemistry of the lead pair was much admired by the audience and made the film rank among the highest-grossing Bollywood films, with a gross of Rs 400 crore. However, Sonam Kapoor was not the first choice for the film but it was Deepika Padukone who was offered the film first.
As reported by BollywoodLife, Deepika Padukone was the first choice for the film but due to unknown reasons, she refused it. Earlier talking about Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Deepika had told DNA, “See, films always belong to people who do them. It doesn’t matter who was offered or who didn’t do it. That’s why I talk about films that I have been offered. That’s not what matters, what matters eventually after the film has released is who the film belongs to and it belongs to those who have been a part of it.”
Deepika Padukone was the first choice for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
Interestingly, Deepika has worked with almost all the big names in the industry. She even marked her Bollywood debut with superstar Shah Rukh Khan but she has not worked with Salman Khan yet. She is probably the only leading lady in Bollywood who has not been paired with Salman Khan yet.
The much-celebrated film marked the reunion of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan with director Sooraj Barjatya after working on mega-hits like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, and Hum Saath Saath Hain. Other than Salman and Sonam, the movie also featured Swara Bhaskar, Anupam Kher, and Neil Nitin Mukesh.
While Deepika Padukone is ruling the headlines regarding her marriage rumours to alleged beau Ranveer Singh, the lady is not affected by any of it and is making heads turn with her chic airport looks.
