Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer cop drama Sooryavanshi is one of the most-awaited films in Bollywood. After the success of Simmba, fans are waiting to experience the world of Rohit Shetty once again with the film. While the makers had already announced the leading cast of the film, latest reports suggest that Badhaai Ho actress Neena Gupta has also joined the star cast. Neena will be seen playing the mother in the cop-drama and she has revealed that her role is not of a stereotypical mother but has many dimensions to it.

Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Neena Gupta confirmed that she will be playing Akshay Kumar’s mother in Sooryavanshi. Revealing details about her character, the actress told the publication, “This is an interesting role because it isn’t the stereotypical mother who asks his son about food, marriage etc., but has several dimensions. There is a new temperament to the mother, and you will get to see a very different dynamic between Akshay, Katrina and me. This is a new, sweet and interesting space that I am looking to explore. I am happy that more people will get to see my work. Rohit has made some amazing films which have been appreciated by the audience.”

On the related, details about Katrina Kaif’s role have already surfaced the internet. It is said that she will play Akshay Kumar’s wife in Sooryavanshi. It was just last month that the makers as well as the actress took to their social media to announce that Katrina Kaif is the leading lady in the film. She shared a picture with Akshay Kumar, director Rohit Shetty and producer Karan Johar and wrote, “Super excited to join the team of sooryavanshi with the incredible @itsrohitshetty for the first time , cant wait to be back on set with @akshaykumar after soooooo long and the inimitable @karanjohar”

Coming back to Neena Gupta, the actress was lasts seen in Bollywood film Badhaai Ho in which she played the role of a mother who got pregnant at a later age in life. Neena was much praised for her role in the film and even bagged many awards for her performance.
