Me Too Movement: ‘Sajid Khan was always obnoxious, extremely sexist and ridiculous’, says Dia Mirza

Sajid Khan, popular Bollywood filmmaker, was accused of sexual harassment by actress Rachel White, Saloni Chopra, senior journalist Karishma Upadhyay and a crew member of Humshakals. After Bipasha Basu called out director Sajid Khan for his lewd behaviour, actress Dia Mirza, who had a cameo in his directorial Heyy Babyy (2006) has agreed to the fact that he is extremely sexist.

In an interview with India Today, Dia Mirza said that she was “deeply disturbed” reading the accounts and added, “I agree that Sajid was obnoxious, extremely sexist and ridiculous. Even for me, the details of these accounts are beyond shocking. I have personally always have had a radar for such people. I have never invested in a relationship with such people even in the workplace.”

She went on to say that while she knew Sajid's behaviour was indecent at times, she didn't think he was capable of treating a woman like this. She has been quoted as saying,

“We often brush off certain kind of behaviour. But I wouldn't have imagined that Sajid could be capable of doing this to a woman. I completely understand the shock people are feeling right now, but it would be unfair to say that the names that are coming out is shocking."

While Sajid has stepped away from the film, IFTDA has issued him a show cause notice seeking his response over the alleged offensive behaviour. The filmmaker has been given a 7-day ultimatum to respond to IFTDA and send them an explanation.
