The maverick filmmaker of Bollywood Anurag Kashyap turned a year older today. The director, who is all set to enthrall his fans with his love triangle Manmarziyaan will celebrate his 46th birthday on September 10. The director-cum-actor is currently busy with the promotional events of his forthcoming film.
His actors in the film- Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu took to social media to wish their 'penguin' and 'chachaji' on his birthday. Sharing a heart-warming picture in which he can be seen hugging Anurag, Vicky wrote, ''If it wasn’t for this beautiful man, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today. You are one of the most accessible, one of the most genuine persons around. Feel so happy and proud when people call me your ‘blue haired boy’. Thank You for being there, thank you for being YOU! The leading lady of Manmarziyaan, Taapsee Pannu also wrote a quirky caption to wish his director. Posting a candid picture with Anurag, the actress wrote, ''To the man who, in his own unique way ‘farted’ beneath Rumi’s wings to make her fly and be who she is ! This year there is a super special birthday gift coming up soon ( that’s apart from the fact that we all r soon landing in Toronto to meet u , dressed as fancy gift package ) it’s finally gonna be the birth of @anuragkashyap10 version 2.0! Now prepare a good return gift for us Happy Birthday penguin!''
Anurag Kashyap, who is currently the face of unconventional cinema in Bollywood wanted to be a scientist till 1992. However, the next year, the Gorakhpur boy started having an inclination towards cinema and art. From doing odd jobs to writing scripts for free, his struggle tales are long and inspirational. At the age of 22, he rejected Rs 2.5 lakh month offer from Mahesh Bhatt and accepted Rs 10,000 per month offer from Ram Gopal Verma. This incident is enough to show his passion. The director has helmed several critically acclaimed films like Dev D, Gangs of Wasseypur, Raman Raghav 2.0, Mukkabaaz and a popular Netflix's show Sacred Games. He got his major break with crime drama Satya, which he has co-written. Kashyap has also won a National Film Award and four Filmfare Awards.

On a related note, Manmarziyaan is the first full-fledged love story directed by Kashyap, who is known to be the king of dark and gritty drama. Besides Pannu and Kaushal, the movie also features Abhishek Bachchan, with whom Kashyap is in good terms now. Earlier, there was a cold war between the duo which surfaced during the 2004 film Yuva. Produced by Aanand L Rai and written by Kanika Dhillon, Manmarziyaan is set to release on September 14.
