For the uninitiated, Sridevi was the first choice to be casted in Abhishek Varman’s Kalank. The actress was to begin the shoot for the film but her sudden demise took her away from us. On February 24, the actress died a shocking death by drowning accidentally in her bathtub. However, as they say, the show must go on. After a lot of discussions, the makers decided to rope in Madhuri Dixit to play the role for which Sridevi was finalised. Recently, while talking to PTI, the Dhak Dhak girl opened up on how she felt when she stepped into the shoes of Sridevi in Kalank.
She said, “What took time was to digest the whole thing that had happened. It was so shocking, I was like 'you want me to do this role?' because even they (filmmakers) were stuck. They had to go on.
"As a person it was hard to deal. As an actor, you know the role, the script. It's a different matter altogether. But to accept the truth was very difficult,"
While talking to the news agency, Madhuri Dixit also spoke up on #MeToo allegations against her Hum Aapke Hain Kaun co-star Alok Nath. She said, “It is always shocking. Because you've known them and you've not known them like that."
Madhuri Dixit will be next seen in Total Dhamaal which is the third part of the famous franchise Dhamaal. Directed by Indra Kumar, the film also has Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Johnny Lever, Boman Irani and Sanjai Mishra in lead roles. The film is scheduled to release on February 22.
